Standard Plastic Sockets

Carpin offers a wide variety of standard plastic sockets that convert round and square tubes into receptacles that can accept casters. Common applications include furniture and display racks. Three basic types of plastic sockets are available:

Plastic Caster Sockets: including versions to fit 5/8″ up to 1-3/8″ OD tubing as well as 1″ square tubing.

Plastic Caster Sockets with a steel retaining clip: designed to fit 7/8″ and 1″ OD tubing, this patented product uses steel retention clips to provide greater lateral stability, as friction fits are less reliable and can degrade over time.

Angled Plastic Caster Sockets with a steel retaining clip: this patented product allows angled tubing surfaces in furniture to be converted to horizontal surfaces that can readily accept casters. Steel retention clips provide added lateral stability as friction fits are less reliable and can degrade over time. A notch in the socket gets matched up with cut-out in the tube to prevent the socket from rotating once its installed.

Retaining clip provides additional lateral stability, and is the primary mechanism for holding the socket into the tube instead of using the unreliable friction fit to the tube, which degrades over time. Angled Plastic Caster Sockets are made custom for specific frames matching the angle of the front and rear legs. A notch in the socket matches a cutout in the tube to prevent rotation of the socket inside the tube when in use.
